karibu 2010!

You will never learn faith in comfortable surroundings.

God gives us His promises in a quiet hour, seals our covenants with great and gracious words, and then steps back, waiting to see how much we believe. He then allows the tempter to come, and the ensuing test seems to contradict all that He has spoken. This is when faith wins its crown. This is the time to look up through the storm, and among the trembling , frightened sailors declare, “I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.” Acts 27:25″ {from L.B. Cowman in Streams in the Desert}

This year has begun with more hope and excitement than I can remember in a long time. I can only begin to tell you how excited I am about what’s to come as I pack for a plane that is heading to Kenya in 16 hours! Holy smokes! Eighteen days ago I left my job in the design world to follow a still small voice that said, “Go.” I can’t see every detail… I can’t answer every question… but I can grow in faith and fall deeper in love with my Savior as I take each step. And that’s the point, isn’t it?

I’m excited for you to join me as I step out of my comfortable surroundings. There are good stories ahead and I’m sure, plenty of humbling ones as well. Either way, I aim to praise Him. Welcome 2010!

    YAY…so excited you got a blog up and going! Praise God for you hearing and listening to that still, quiet voice. Sometimes its hard to decipher that voice in all the loud banging and clanging we have in our lives!

    I’m looking forward to keeping up with you as you grow in faith! Happy 2010 indeed!

    So excited, Ali! May God give you his promises to hang on to, his arms to rest on, his heart to trust, and his love to make you secure. I am excited about how God is going to govern your steps in loving people the way He would!
    Love and prayers from Kalamazoo! Peace, dear.
